There have been many inventions made by a countless number of people around the world. They have all helped in creating a better life for mankind today. Engineers, scientists and doctors have invented very helpful things in their fields. One such field that has found innumerable uses for inventions is the communications field. In this field, the earliest and perhaps the most important invention was the telegraph. The telegraph was considered to be an essential part of early communication methods, as it could send messages many thousands of miles away. The telegraph paved the way for new scientific discovery. The next invention was by Alexander Grahambell who invented the telephone. The telephone is one of those inventions that paved the way for a whole new era of communication. The telephone, since its invention, has experienced increased usage. Today, telephones are an inevitable part of people`s lives. Phones are used everywhere as a means of communication, talking, reporting or just for leisure. Almost every working person owns a phone with a unique individual calling number, which serves as its identity. Telephone numbers go into hundreds of millions. Ordinarily, it would be quite difficult to manage a large database of phone numbers. However, with software-operated databases, these numbers are all managed well. To help in this regard, various communication organizations as well as Governments publish Phonebooks. A Phonebook is basically a catalogue provided by any communication or phone service provider containing all the listed numbers of its clients. This Phonebook is used as a reference book to find phone numbers, which helps people in finding their desired numbers out of hundreds and thousands of telephone numbers. These are listed in alphabetical order. Thus, in all a Phonebook is an essential book, which is useful in many different ways to find out desired numbers. A Phonebook can usually be found placed in the public phone booths as well as in offices. A Phonebook is also used by operators and by the general public, and also in homes to serve as a quick reference book to find telephone numbers.
